2009 Hike for Hope – The John Muir Trail

Trail Profile (Click to Enlarge)

This hike was dedicated to Sonny Petra and his commitment to help those in Lewis County living with HIV/AIDS.

Rosie Breen, Sonny’s mother hiked the John Muir Trail (JMT) which starts in Yosemite Valley (California) and ends on the summit of Mount Whitney (elevation 14, 497′). This JMT was the 1st annual “Hike for Hope”.

The John Muir Trail passes through three National Parks (Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia) and is described as some of the finest mountain scenery in the United States. This is a land of 13,000′ and 14,000′ peaks, of lakes in the thousands, and of canyons and granite cliffs. It’s also a land blessed with the mildest, sunniest climate of any major mountain range in the world.

Thank you so much to all the people who encouraged and supported this wonderful event. “A Hike For Hope” collected almost $6,000. These funds will directly benefit the people of Lewis County living with HIV/AIDS.
